1. When should I
submit my child’s passport?
A: The passport can be
submitted to the Asian Cultural Center starting July 14. It may also
be handed to a representative on the day of departure.
2. Should my child prepare to bring any gifts?
A: It would be preferred
each child would prepare 2-3 small gifts for their new friends in
China. This will ensure positive interaction between the two
cultures.
3. On the day of departure, what time should I meet up with the
group? On the day of arrival, am I responsible to pick my child up
at the airport?
A: On July 17, we will be
gathering the group at 1:00 pm in the lobby of JFK airport, terminal
1. We hope that all children will be arriving on time. The departure
time is 4:30 pm with Air China on flight CA982.
The group will be returning on August 4 arriving at JFK airport,
terminal 1 on flight CA981 at 2:30 pm. We hope that all the parents
will not forget to come and pick up their children. We will be
waiting for you until you arrive.
4. If I don’t live in New York City, how would my
children get to JFK airport?
A: If living in New Jersey, the group will meet at
the Asian Cultural Center, we can provide rides to the airport for
those parents whom are unable to drive to JFK airport for a fee of
$20. We prefer parents we whom are able to drive to the airport to
take their child to meet with the group in JFK airport. Due to the
limited space, please contact the center as soon as possible to
arrange a ride.
5. When will there be a group meeting?
A: We are unable to hold a group meeting because
there are many students who live out of state. If you have any
questions regarding to the summer camp in China, please feel free to
contact us. The Asian Cultural Center will assist your concerns.
Questions you may have about your children in China:
1. What if my child gets sick in China?
A: If there are any incidents during the trip, we
have purchased medical insurance and will take care of your child
until he/she gets well. You must show ask your family doctor of a
medical record of your child’s up-to-date shots and a letter stating
that your child is healthy.
2. How many clothing should my child bring?
A: Bring change of clothes and one jacket.
3. Is there an e-mail that I can contact?
A: You can e-mail

4. Should I give my child a cell phone or calling
card? How can I get in touch with my child?
A: There will be calling card in China; you don’t
have to give your child a cell phone. We will have your child call
you once a week. Children over 14 years old may bring their cell
phone but please advise your child to be responsible.
5. How do I get in contact with my child? Can I get the group
leader’s phone number?
A: The summer camp is a chance for your child to
become independent. Please trust the group leader and your child.
The leader has every parent’s phone number and will contact you if
necessary. Thank you for your cooperation.
6. How much spending money should I give my child?
A: You can give up child around $250 USD. Parents can
give the spending money to the group leader for children under 15
years old. This will help to avoid money being stolen or lost. The
remaining money will be returned to the parents.
7. Will there be air-conditioning?
A: Yes there will be. We will be staying at 3 star
hotels and will be traveling in air-conditioned transportation.
8. Is there additional fee aside from the registration fee?
A: The registration fee does not include the tips for
driver, hotel maid and restaurant service. Please give the group
leader $2 per day cash in an envelope with the students name and
label “Tips”.
9. Does my child have to participate at every activity?
A: Yes, all the activities require group
participation.
10. What should my child do with his/laundry?
A: We will do their laundry together. Please label or
initial your child’s underwear and clothing.
11. How much clothing should my child bring?
A: Please bring enough underwear and T-shirt for 2 weeks of change
and bring 1 or 2 jackets.
12. How is the living condition in the hotel and public rest
rooms? A: We
will be staying at 3 star hotel, the restroom facilities at
restaurants and hotels are clean. However public rest rooms
sometimes require users to provide their own toilet papers or pay a
fee (a few cents) to use public rest room. We will mention to the
student before we leave the hotel. |
