“2006美国华裔青少年中国寻根之旅夏令营”由中国海外交流协会、亚洲文化中心共同主办，从1999年开始举办以来，现在已经进入第六个年头，前几次夏令营去了江南和蒙古草原，本次则将前往中国的首都---北京和著名的彩云之国---云南。寻根之旅夏令营旨在帮助华裔青少年丰富暑期生活，更好地了解和体会中华民族文化的精髓，让营员从实地感受中华民族的文化、历史、地理和少数民族的风情，同时为即将来临的2008奥运会进行运动热身，近距离感受2008年奥运前的北京。并培养华裔青少年独立自主，团队协作的精神。
本次夏令营将在北京人民大会堂举办开营仪式，和来自全世界的数千名青少年一起接受中国国家领导人接见并接受中国中央电视台、凤凰卫视的采访。营员们将参观北京的名胜古迹，感受中国的人文环境，近距离了解中华文化和北京的风土人情。旅游景点包括：长城、颐和园、琉璃厂、北海、天坛、故宫、天安门等，同时还有清华或北大以及王府井大街、四合院参观等活动，观赏精彩文艺表演。结束北京的行程后，我们会前往云南。除了参观外，我们还会与当地的学生互动，互相学习、了解各自文化教育背景的异同、生活习惯的异同、成长经历的异同。
云南，雪域高原与热带雨林共存，高山深谷和阔坝平湖相间，集结了中国二分之一以上的动植物种类，见证着26个民族生存发展的历史。分属于古代氐羌族系、百越族系、百濮族系和苗瑶族系后裔的25个少数民族与地处西南边陲的汉族人民世代交好，呈现大杂居、小聚居的分布格局，使得这片红土地上骄傲持久地绽放着绚丽多姿的民族文化之花，而云南所特有的15个民族更为这里“民族文化王国”地位的确立奠定了不容置疑的基础。
从99世界园艺博览会举办地的省城昆明，到“风花雪月”的大理名胜；从高原水城丽江，到孔雀曼舞的西双版纳；从“天下第一奇观”的石林，到峰谷纵横交错的玉龙雪山,
这些迥然相异的山川景色，如一个天然的自然博物馆，每一位来到这里的游客，都会深深地感受到这是一块博大而充满激情、深邃而富有魅力的神奇之地。
本次夏令营全程入住星级酒店，两人一间，免费洗衣，完全附合美国标准。24小时有老师全程陪同；备有医护用品及设施。10万元意外伤害险。一日三餐搭配营养食谱(中、晚餐四菜一汤，四种主食加水果)，集体用餐。安排品尝农家菜；云南风味小吃；北京烤鸭、北京风味小吃；间隔会为营员安排美式食品。
活动结束时，举行征文活动，优秀文章将刊登在亚文网及“美洲时报” “侨报” “侨报周刊”上。营期结束，每位学员将会获赠拍摄各种活动的VCD纪录片和照片供家长欣赏。

“Chinese American Summer Camp to China" is a
three-week summer camp hosted and organized by the Chinese Overseas Exchange
Association and the Asian Cultural Center. The goal of this camp is to
enrich Chinese American Youth by understanding and experiencing traditional
Chinese culture and heritage. The majority of the trip will navigate around
the YunNan Province. The trip will conclude in China’s capital, Beijing.
Students will be exposed to the legends and myths of Chinas imperial history
through tours of the historical Forbidden City and the Great Wall. The
students will also have an opportunity to see how Beijing is preparing for
the 2008 Olympics. The camp allows Chinese American youth to explore their
home country, develop cultural understanding and cultivate skills and
talents to become a well-rounded individual.
Composition Competition: A
Composition Competition is held during the camp. Articles selected will be
published in Sino American Times, The China Press and on the website of Asia
Cultural Club, www.acclub.org.
Meals: Three meals daily (four
main courses and soup for lunches and dinners, plus fruits). Typical farmer
food, Peking Duck and Peking Style Diamsum will be arranged. Occasionally,
American food will be served.
All hotels are rated 3 stars & 4
stars. Students are supervised 24 hours by professional teachers and
counselors. Routine medication and medical equipment prepared.
