Chung, Kang L.

As a young man, Kang L. Chung studied at the art school affiliated with the Guangdong Academy of Fine Arts in China. He moved to New York at the end of the 70’s. Throughout his creative journey, Chung has been consistently upholding a spirit of rationality. His work has circumvented the fidgety characteristics of the art of the big city and preserved his individual attributes of a lucid and pristine style. As a Chinese artist, his “The Steps Period”, “The Tree Shadow Period”, inherent meditative sentiment and Eastern cultural background constituted a valuable quality of independent reasoning. In a relatively short period of twenty years with development of concepts and growth in awareness, his work has undergone four stages of stylistic transformation, “The Cypress and Cliff Period” and “The Water, Rock, Clouds and Mountains Period”. The tools, materials, composition and brush strokes have experienced successive modification in each of these stages. Kang L. Chung uses techniques akin to those of Photorealism.

In recent years, Chung has been closely involved with the development of the art scene in mainland China and has devoted much time and effort into international artistic exchanges.

Higa, Dali

Independence and a creative drive to pursue and focus on one goal are traits which have enabled her to be successful throughout Dali Higa’s life. She began drawing and studying the ancient art of Chinese Calligraphy at the age of seven in a family where her father, older sister and brother were all fine artists. Although Dali was a Chemistry and International Business major, her heart always followed art. Dali later immigrated to France in pursuit of art. Dali believes it is important to be creative, to stay away from what is safe in painting, in order to grow as an artist. She also believes that one has to make his or her own interpretation of how the painting should look. Dali is represented by Bottoms Art Galleries in downtown Santa Barbara and at The Biltmore Hotel. The Classic Art Gallery in Carmel, CA and The FountainSide Gallery in North Carolina will now feature Dali's works. Dali also has works at Villas and Verandas in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Limor Golan-Nesher was born in Jerusalem, Israel. Her art embraces a wide spectrum in the worlds of painting, fashion design and music. All three were blended to create a unique artistic platform-a tangible fantasy. Willie Nash

Willie Nash was born and raised in New York City. He holds a BFA in photography from Pratt Institute and a MFA from the School of Visual Arts. He has enjoyed a life-long passion for photography. Since his early teens he has been experimenting photography on a wide variety of projects, both personal and commercial. His photographs, often richly colored, present the subject in such a way that it is lifted from “the everyday” level and onto another plane. Through the use of created environments, related objects, and lighting, he forges the “unwritten story” that takes place in each of his photographs. Each day he is faced with many artistic and technical challenges in creating the “photographic voice” of his subject, yet this is what he enjoys the most.

Sato, Masaaki

The Japanese artist Masaaki Sato remains almost as sensitive today to the many sensations exuded by New York City as when he first arrived there, back in 1970. In his mid 70's paintings, Sato developed a highly personal signature motif of identical and equidistant cone-shaped holes piercing three-dimensional form. In 1980, Sato definitely emerged above-ground and turned to the newsstand as yet another metaphor for life in New York. In his more recent Newsstand paintings, Sato explores an entire range of expressive possibilities by constantly recombining new texts and images on the covers of the magazines illusionistically exhibited upon his newsstand racks. Through his works, Sato seeks to tear down barriers and broaden horizons, by exposing the viewers to foreign cultures both past and present.

Yang, ChiHung

ChiHung Yang was born in 1947 in Taoyan, Taiwan. Yang graduated from National Taiwan College of Art in 1968. He studied print at the Pratt Institute in New York in 1976 and has resided in New York since 1979. He received the honor of residency from the Institute for Art and Urban Resources, Inc from the period of 1984 to 1986. In 1989, he received an award from the Governor of New York as an excellent Asian artist. From 1971 to 2001, he has had thirty-four solo shows and numerous group shows in the U.S, Asia and various other countries. Yang tries to reflect the primordial forms of nature and its unending succession of growth and decay in his works. Yang states that his creation of art is an attempt to explore the sensitivity of the primordial and the delicacy of the powerful. His liberating action of painting incites desires while resonance between his action and his works produces overwhelmingly dramatic power. His creation of art wonders on the ambiguity of abstraction and representation.

George Zymarakis

George Zymarakis is a well-known Greek artist who has exhibited frequently in New York and throughout Europe. His latest works, entail a series of cityscapes titled “Homage to New York.” Romanticism and beauty are in juxtaposition with the impenetrable masks of American neo-realism. At ease in the environment of New York, which he formerly lived, Zymarakis intimates we should take note of the impressive beauty of the cities contrasts, delight in its colorful geometry and the abstract game of reflections, and appreciate the part played by shadows. By applying the pigments on his canvas, he manages to convert the buildings to places that are both familiar and impressive.
